RE: Lost in the Desert

Nomad looked harshly at Kyzer when he prodded for an answer. He still didn't answer for a long couple of seconds.

"I'm in." he finally replied.

Jehuty wasn't wasting any time, as he beckoned them and headed for the door practically the same moment Nomad announced his decision.

Nomad followed grimly. He could only hope this decision would pay off in some way or another.

RE: Lost in the Desert

(I apologize for not letting you guys know I was going to be here the past few days. My NJROTC unit went to a huuuuuge competition and we stayed in a barracks the past two days, also I am leaving to go to Rhode Island on the fifteenth and won't be back until around the twentieth.)

Kyzer waited for a few seconds before following them to the door. He surveyed the surroundings to make sure nobody would try and follow them out, albeit a bit paranoid.

He grinned as they left, "thank you, I will be in debt to both of you..." He tapped his holocommunicator and it sparked to life. It still didn't function at one-hundred percent capacity. Fortunantly he was still able to bring up the map to the secret entrance.

"Thank him;" Jehuty poked a thumb over his shoulder at Nomad, "I've got my agenda."

The trio crossed the street and entered what appeared to be the public communications building.  It was small but had a high ceiling with public comm units lining the walls and a counter on the far end, behind which stood a short red-haired woman wearing an apron with a nametag that said "Menos PubComm: Dorothy - How can I help?".

Jehuty approached Dorothy and explained his situation.  At first she scowled and appeared about to reprimand the trio for the un-piloted landing but she regained her composure before his explanation was complete.  With a twinkle in her eye, Dorothy grinned and said, "Why, no worries my laddies.  It'll be 100 Tape for storage sans reservation and I'll get ye on your way."

Jehuty was silent as he handed over the money and Dorothy led them out a side door toward the hangar.

Nomad scanned the street carefully as they crossed to the public communications building. His focus had moved away from the possible betrayal of Kyzer and Jehuty, and toward a possible random, senseless attack.

He remained silent as Jehuty spoke to Dorothy, who then led the way to Jehuty's ship. He decided it was better to let Kyzer think for now that Nomad was helping him as a favor.

When they reached the hangar, Nomad was surprised. The ship had looked smaller when he had seen it at a distance hours ago. Good thing, too, since it needed to fit the three of them.

RE: Lost in the Desert

(I'm so sorry for my absence our plane broke down and we didn't get another one until wendsday and when I got back home the charger for my laptop broke so it was out of commission for a few days)

He stood upright and carried a strong demeanor to dissuade possible attackers. Kyzer keppt silent as Jehuty retrieved his ship. He often saw ships during his time on Menos, but he has never ridden in one since the crash.

Ships always fascinated him, how a hunk of metal could survive in the harshness of space. To finally be able to ride in one would be a life goal in his eyes.

RE: Lost in the Desert

Wasp was not the most luxurious ship Jehuty had ever flown, but he liked to think she was the fastest around.  She was a sleek craft, seemingly forged out of a single piece of aurospace alloy with minimalist stabilizer fins and exterior equipment; blinding yellow with black stripes fading out from the rear.  Her sides showed wear and heat scouring where couplers that had once held Ship-To-Ship weapons were now vacant and capped off.  The interior was simple and the staggered seats were not cramped but there was certainly no standing room for the pilot in the center, the navigator to his right, and gunner to his left.

Jehuty ran his hand along his ship's nose as he walked toward the cockpit.  The canopy hissed open and the smell of New Ship Scent air freshener wafted down.  Jehuty vaulted up into the cockpit and offered a helping hand to the next man.
"Where to, Kyzer?"

Kyzer entered the ship and marvelled at the controls and systems. He resisted the urge to dismantle stuff to figure out what makes it tick.

"Uhm...the compound it here, we want to land about here..." he pointed to the landing point on the ship's map.

RE: Lost in the Desert

Once the three were seated, Jehuty touched a control on the dash and the hatch slid shut, atmospherically sealing instantly.  Jehuty tapped the navigation map on the edge of what he assumed was the sensor range boundary for the base Kyzer had indicated.  The characteristic hum of gravity dampers ramping up reverberated around the small hangar and the ship lifted through the roof and rotated toward its destination.  The dampers were drowned out by Wasp's triple cruising engines coming online and the canopy soon compensated for the piercing decibels, which became a bass thrum as Wasp reached maximum safe atmospheric velocity.

(I'm up for a fast-forward unless anyone has events planned for the trip.)
