Transport tubes--commonly referred to by the brand name Fast Express Tubes, or FET, due to People Movers Ltd. having a monopoly on the market--are small, stationary tubes that allow individual transport at speeds in excess of five hundred miles per hour. Each tube is approximately four feet across, laid underground, and uses artificial gravity and inertial dampeners to thrust a person from one end to another. While not in mainstream use throughout the galaxy, they are employed to great effect on Perrenor, where fast, underground travel between colony domes is of great importance. |
