How old of demo footage are we talking? Because, although it was never cel shaded, originally Terran had a really bright and cartoony look, but they tweaked it quite a while ago. Yeah, it does seem brighter than SC1 in general, but it still definitely has a Starcraft feel, in my opinion. The only thing I don't like is that they have a caricature of Arnold Schwarzenegger driving the Thor. It's amusing at first, but so distracting and out of place.

Dominion Master 2/22/2010 9:37:52 PM Level: 25 Experience: 65000 Total Posts: 691	RE: StarCraft 2 Beta At this point, the only way to get into the beta is to make a Battle.net account (at www.battle.net), register a game (you have to own an existing Blizzard game) and then go to your beta profile settings and enroll for the Starcraft 2 beta. All you can do after that is hope they pick you at a later phase. I got in because I was one of the winners of one of their contests last year.

I watched some newer videos and I agree that they've improved it slightly but it still is flamboyant and uncharacteristic of the genre.  The announce cinematic is still awesome though! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The M107 Anti-Materiel Rifle. I think the second looks less so.

But Starcraft 2 just seems more rounded than the original which had hand-drawn units that added a definative look to the game.

I still don't really see what you're talking about in terms of cell shading and the cartoon look, but oh well. Either way, I can't wait for it to come out. I also can't wait for Diablo III... Speaking of cartoony...
