Raelan inventor/mage 11/24/2008 8:01:39 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 94 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets Raelan quirked an eyebrow, and nods, one side of the story, reasonable enough. The tracework of the spell on the man indeed slowly fades as the residual magic dissipates slowly. He addressed the man "Is that true?" |
Dante Eccentric Assasin 11/24/2008 8:25:55 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 42 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets Burly Man stands quiet for a few seconds obliviously trying not to doze off. "You...don't know what my Brother was like... sure he did some *yawn* things, but he was a good man...Just in the wrong place...at th' wrong time" THe man yawned. Dante chimed in "good is jsut a point of view Mr. Tameran obliviously your sense of good is murder" Burly Man was snapped at him "Look whose talking you kill people for a living!". "Yes but what makes me different from you brother is that he was the catalyst he killed for fun or just because he didn't liek the guy or many other reasons, I was the reaction of the catalyst-an eye for an eye- Mr. Tameran I for justice, the rewards are just an extra incentive" Dante tried to keep it short but his dramatic nature got in the way. Burly Man was either too tired or couldn't think of anything to say. |
Raelan inventor/mage 11/24/2008 9:11:32 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 94 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets (sorry for skipping you Lao, but this is sort of a continuation of my short post.) Raelan lowers most of his guard, this situation seems to have mostly diffused, and the detection sphere dissipates, he still keeps his magic readied around his left hand, glowing until the effect was completely gone. This, scenario would be more trouble than it's worth "that being said, puts you as an accomplice, or at least a knowing associate of such activities. Do you still wish to press charges?" |
Lao-tzu Ancient Thinker 11/25/2008 8:23:59 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 56 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets The situation was rare in Lao-tzu's long experience. Here were two men who tended to use violence to resolve conflict, tenuously held in check by a third man and... something else. The admitted murderer, whether he himself realized it clearly or not, was a firm believer in the role of vigilante justice as an enforcer of the laws of karma. This constrained his actions and focused his violent tendencies on those who "had it coming". All the metal-armed interloper had really done was to provide the opportunity to disengage from the escalating violence by way of that energy-draining spell. Lao-tzu's spell was therefore rendered completely unnecessary. However, the situation was not yet resolved. The assassin was still a criminal, and the interloper seemed to value the justice of law quite highly. The conflict seemed to shift away from the big man to a point between the assassin and the man with the metal arm. The key to peaceful resolution lay in their realization that they actually stood for the same basic principles. Sun-tzu pondered the problem and estimated about an 80% chance that they would come to terms, assuming no external interference. Not bad at all, but it meant he had to divert the attention of the police to give them time. The abstract web spell would come in handy for this. With an odd turn of his head, Lao-tzu transformed it into an area diversion spell. Concentrating, he laid it out so anyone seeking entry to this place with the intention of law enforcement would magically be directed to the bazaars a couple rows away. With that accomplished, Lao-tzu sat back again and awaited further developments. There was still a fairly high chance that things would go awry, and although the cops were clumsy in their use of force, they had the backing of the law and he prepared to cancel his spell and allow them access if necessary. |
Dante Eccentric Assasin 11/27/2008 1:12:06 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 42 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets Burly Man growls realizing Raelan is correct. He looks at Dante and made a slitting motion across his own neck "Next time you won't have people willing to help you". Burly Man staggers off and is soon absorbed by the crowd. Dante twitches as Lao-Tzu puts the field over them. His magic aura nearly diminishes leaving only small cinders of energy. He looks at Raelan "Quite some fancy hardware you have there, my name is Dante, thanks by the way your still not gonna call the law enforcement are you?". Dante begins to search through his Holocommunicator to mark John's brother as "alive". Anxiety is the essential condition of intellectual and artistic creation |
Raelan inventor/mage 11/27/2008 2:51:22 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 94 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets Raelan brings out his conspiratorial grin, "sorry about that, once I put my foot down for one side I can't properly pull it back, just my thing. The plaintiff's gone, why the heck would I pursue you killing some depraved jerk? I had to convince him to go away though... My name's Raelan, I make and enchant cybernetic parts, also an inventor, and sometimes I do shows." He flexes his cybernetic fingers, as he smiles at his hand, appreciating his work again. He never tires of the puzzlework, the sheer complexity, and beauty cybernetic parts embody. Then he holds the hand out to offer a handshake. Still, even for an assassin who killed a man who earned it, there are better ways to handle crazy revenge driven brothers, least I'd like to think there are... |
Lao-tzu Ancient Thinker 11/27/2008 4:44:50 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 56 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets (Lao-tzu actually only put up magic at the entrances to the area to conserve energy, so Dante shouldn't have noticed anything) Lao-tzu sat back, satisfied with how things went. The relaxed tone of both of the men indicated that they may have gone all the way from enmity to amicable respect, an impressive turn-around that showed high intelligence on both parts. Police were still trying to investigate "a disturbance", but they would probably give up soon if they didn't see anything out of the ordinary. He wanted to talk to them, with the guy with the magical metal hand about his understanding of magic and artifacts and with the assassin for his potentially peculiar understanding of morality. Still, he was content to wait a few more moments so the two men could sort themselves out before finding themselves confronted with a new situation. |
Dante Eccentric Assasin 11/28/2008 12:03:25 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 42 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets (Oh ok) Dante admired his work "That's...well cool" unable to think of a good remark. He looks down at his shirt and tries to fix it but it is hopelessly torn. He sighs than looks back up at Raelan "As for me I'm a business man of sorts, a dealer of death if you will". He looks around "I might not want to stay around here in case someone did call the law enforcement.". Dante picks up his cane that had been left on the ground during the struggle. "This technology of yours intrigues me, care to partake in tea? my treat of course" Dante nonchalantly asks Raelan "Unless of course you have something else planned." |
Raelan inventor/mage 11/28/2008 12:14:49 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 94 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets Raelan nods, still smiling "I'm just here looking for components that would be useful for some of my designs, so I'm here on a vacation of sorts, tea sounds like a fair idea after this mess, but you may want to get a new shirt first. Maybe there's a good store a couple streets over." he's strange, but he's amusing after a sort, I think the problem stems from his being a little too honest... He seems amicable enough... |
Dante Eccentric Assasin 11/28/2008 12:41:55 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 42 | RE: Of Spaceport Markets He grins "ah yes that probably would be a good idea, I think a saw a shop back there a ways". Dante points behind him "I am here on a vacation as well, admittedly it does get boring after a while and I hope to get back to work within the week". (Assuming it's alright with you) Dante heads towards the clothing shop, it is a small hut it is largely nondescriptive. Inside it has a cozy feel the cashier is an old balding man smoking a long cigarrete. Some of the shirts are ordinary and some emenate small magical auras. Dante scans through a few casual shirts when he touches a enchanted one his own aura flares up through his body and flows out of his body "feeling" the enchantments. "Hmm...hmm...yes I like this one" he pulls a rather plain shirt from the rack, the threads are magical themselves. Anxiety is the essential condition of intellectual and artistic creation |
