He didn't seem to miss anything, but it was no surprise. He still didn't know what was going on though, thankfully. She was far more concerned about trying to decode the signals though, and found it quite amazing her advanced systems couldn't catch the meaning - but then again, she wasn't entirely functional either - even after a year. Though she was more advanced than most things out there, period, little errors like this kept her from being an outstanding andriod - a priceless relic - at least for now. She nodded and stood back some, letting her fingers slide across the plans a bit to keep some measure of hold of them. "Free reign to look over the company's halls ... without escort. Of course, there will be areas that are restricted to me, but that's only fair. I've been interested in the company of late," she explains in a soft tone, giving an intense stare back to the man. Assuming he had a trained eye, at the very least, it'd be obvious by now that her eyes were not flesh at all. In all reality, she hadn't expected things to go quite like this, but it seemed calm enough for now - assuming the orders were not about surrounding her location anyways. She hoped not anyways and hope she'd get the deal and get a chance to slip away from sight. |

I can arrange for a tour of our building, but due to the risks of espionage, well…” His voice trails off with a shrug that conveys his lack of authority on the subject. His eyes are not best, as evidenced by the need for glasses, and so he doesn’t seem to have noticed that the woman he is conversing with is an android. The phone continues to ring, and he gestures over to it. “They’ll probably be worried that I am not picking up…. So unless there is anything else that you would like in exchange for these plans, I should pick up.” He motions for you to stay sitting if you have nothing else to say, but waits for you to reply before picking up the phone. Meanwhile, the decoding got its first major breakthrough, and the whole code is quickly unraveling. There are an identical number of combinations of dots and dashes, relating exactly to the number of letters in the common alphabet used. Once that is determined, all that was needed was a large enough sample of the transmissions to determine which combinations came up most frequently. Once the frequency of patterns is determined, it needs only to be referenced to a database of the most frequent letters encountered within the language – not a difficult task considering the amount of human contact Star has had in the last year of activity. With that knowledge had, educated guesses can be made as to what each combination stands for, and soon the entire code unravels. The first order that is deciphered is an order for the teams on level 36 to investigate a strange electrical anomaly... followed by an order for guard shift-changes, and a query to the guards on level 40 as to the location of the visitor. |

She didn't want to make this messy if possible. She only nodded at the man and let him answer the phone and adjusted her sound sensors to hear what the other person on the line had to say. Were it not for her rather unique systems, she would've just calculated, but here and now ... she just had the feeling things may get complicated, if whomever was alerting him. She could've just been paranoid herself though, but she had good reason to be. She wanted to be in and out without anyone the wiser - she wasn't quite prepared for this amount of visual contact with her however. With a simple gesture of folding her hands in her lap, she waited and listened - to both the Mose Code and the phone - in hopes to simulate a plan on what to do next. |
Shaelynne Storyweaver 7/2/2009 1:11:54 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 8 | RE: The Search Yes, I’m here. Why didn’t you answer My apologies. I am here now. What is it that I can do for you? Keep her there. We are coming in to take her into custody. There is a swallow, then a nod. You can count on me, sir. The phone is hung up quickly, and he there is a grave look in his eyes, a grim frown on his lips. “It seems that you’re in more trouble than you know of, dear one.” Dear one… that’s an odd thing to say to a woman one has never seen before. “But before you go blasting out of here, take this.” He rolls a perfect sphere with no perceivable opening or port within it. It is quite dense, and from just the quickest of sensory sweeps, it seems to be made of the same material that Star is. “It is GIFT. Just be aware that understanding is a three-edged sword… thus a fitting name.” Another transmission via Morse code – this one directed two the two men standing outside the room. Kill him. Subdue her in any way possible – intact or destroyed. The elder man seems to know what is coming, for he gives a sad smile, his balding head and greyed hair damp with sweat. He meets your eyes with his own, regret lacing his voice. “This has been the happiest day of my life, Star.” He speaks, dropping the Sario pretense. “I only wish…I could have gotten the chance to see you completed.” Just as he finishes his sentence, the door bursts open, the two guards entering with guns drawn, one to the scientist, the other to Star. |
Lydyn S.T.A.R. 7/2/2009 1:28:22 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 116 | RE: The Search There is barely enough time to reply, let alone comprehend what exactly was going on, but at least she seemed to have found the right place - surprisingly. She glances quickly behind her and seems to scoff before picking up the dense ball. Despite it's weight, for the andriod it's easy enough to handle and with a quick spin she hurles the thing at the one aiming towards her - directed to his head. No matter what sort of protection he had, unless he was an equal andriod, the strange mixed alloy of known and unknown metal would've nearly knocked the man to his feet - crushing his skull in. She knew this had an unforunate side effect - the old man's death. No doubt the other was already firing and had fired upon him. He held too many secrets to be considered a safe bet anymore - especially now that she was here. He knew it though and she'd have time to sort through this later. For now, quick choices needed to be made to make this all worth it. She drived to the side only to roll and cartwheel herself over to the other man - no doubt taking some hits from the gun - possible bad ones, but that was unavoidable. As she finally approached, she hit his chin upwards with her palm and would at least knock the second to his feet while she recovered the ball. She was unsure what they knew about her systems, which were secret or even guarded against, but as the second guard moaned in pain from impact ... she flipped her cloaking system on and quite literally disappeared from view. It didn't matter if he was unaware of the ability or simply caught off-guard that it was activated, as long as she had the advantage to leave. With a combination of her sound dampening, she leaped over the guards and dashed down the hallway. She kept the channels open for the Mose Code and glanced to the few cameras to notice if they were equipped enough to actually sense her cloaking - which would be near impossible unless it was either super sensative to sound or had motion detectors. That was a thought, installing something to block motion detectors. Either way, she jumped up into a vent of the ductwork and effectively tore it apart as she started to crawl through the system. No doubt they're figure it out quickly, but then could they really cover so many exits? She doubted it. |
Shaelynne Storyweaver 7/2/2009 5:20:18 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 8 | RE: The Search The first guard is lifted off his feet to slam back into the hallway, dropping the katana in his off hand as his skull caves, dying instantly. The second gets his shot though – the precision almost inhumanly accurate as the bullet enters the skull of the aging man, killing him instantly. Though the accuracy can be attributed to the augmentation Star’s sensors picked up earlier, the reflexes are still human.. he manages to only get a single shot off, the round grazing Star’s leg as she cartwheel’s over to him. An android’s strength, specifically Star’s, is much, much greater than any human could hope to possess… and without the ability to feel pain, an android does not instinctively ‘pull’ punches. When the palm connects with the man’s jaw, bone shatters like fine china. He goes down in a heap; though he is most likely not dead, he probably won’t be trying to stand any time soon. There on the floor, next to the ball, is the sheathed katana and the fallen firearm of the first security guard, easily within reach to be picked up before making it into the ductwork. As the cloaking system activates, Star seems to ripple before fading out of view entirely. There seem to be no cameras in this room – the query as to her location after she entered being a good bit of supporting evidence to this assumption, and there is no further opposition while the red-haired android leaps up into the duct-work. Now that the signals from the building’s C&C room have been deciphered, reports start to bleed in – orders to lock down the building, bring all elevators to the ground floor and hold them there, and to search the 40th floor for signs of the woman matching Star’s description. Exploration of the ductwork reveals a simple layout: The ‘tunnels’ are arranged in a grid pattern running above the main hallways to make small branches into the room they service. There is really only one of two ways to go now – towards the center of the building or to the end. |

GIFT. That's what he called the sphere of whatever alloy she was made of. Whether something was inside it or not, she wasn't sure of yet. She gripped it in her hand as she tucked the firearm away in her outfit before grabbing the katana in her free hand and crawling forward. She went to the center of the floor and peeked through the vent, to see who or what was there and what they were doing. She hoped it was the main office of the floor so she could have access to the main network. She kept the channel open for Mose Code - information was key here and as far as she knew, she had the main advantage. |
