Jara Green freelance fighter pilot 10/15/2009 7:27:28 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 60 | RE: Space Station FREYA Jara was a bit antsy about this. It was fairly evident to Froderick, who knew her longer than Piet, that she wasn't even being cautious with the two men in the room kinda like the way she got sometimes when they worked on Bella together. she lifted the suitcase onto the nearest flat surface that didn't have buttons or switches, and opened it revealing two crystal type objects, one significantly larger than the other. "shield crystals. One your size, one Belladonna's size, both completely new and unused. |
Kapitein Piet (Ethical) Space Pirate 10/16/2009 5:09:37 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 60 | RE: Space Station FREYA "Jara, my dear! You are magnificent!" It took considerable self-control not to grab her by the shoulders and shake her back and forth. "They are splendid! I was just worrying about our shielding, in fact. Fantastic! I'm not even going to ask where you got them." |

"Well, I'll get started then, I suppose!" he said, and headed off to fetch his toolbox. A moment after exiting, he popped his head back in the doorway, and said, "Oh yes, welcome back, Jara. Very nice to see you," before promptly disappearing again. |

Freya was all praise and gratitude, "Thank you, Jara! This helps so much! Of course Froderick and I will install the smaller crystal in the Belladonna at once, too." She did some quick thinking, "Mmm, if the Belladonna is shielded, I won't have to toggle my shields for you to pass through. Clever, Jara, very clever! But if Mr. Piet won't ask, I will. They must have cost a fortune, where and how did you get these?" A moment after disappearing to get his tools, Froderick encountered Truckbot in the hallway, already carrying everything he needed. With a meaningful glance, it turned and led the way to a hidden alcove where a rough spacesuit was stowed. Despite having gone through this procedure many times while installing the hyperdrive, getting to Freya's guts was always a harrowing prospect for Froderick. |
Jara Green freelance fighter pilot 10/17/2009 11:47:40 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 60 | RE: Space Station FREYA (weren't expecting that were you? ^-^) Jara burst into a bit of a grin. "They cost a lot. I wanted the best quality so I had to go to a good dealer, but I haggled them down a little." Her face straightened some. "I'm afraid Belladonna's shields are going to need some programming as well as installation. My primary weapons are ion... Something the shield nullifies, so I'd need a flicker effect after I pull the trigger for the ion racks to fire." |
Kapitein Piet (Ethical) Space Pirate 10/22/2009 6:25:24 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 60 | RE: Space Station FREYA Kapitein Piet nodded to himself, and said "Well done, Jara. Froderick, perhaps you can first get started on the Belladonna while Freya prepares for the installation of her shield module. Meanwhile, Jara and I will go back to that dealer and see what else he can offer. Sounds like he's our guy for the type of things you need, Freya. It'd be good to leave a comm link open in case he's willing to barter. We're a bit short on cash, if I'm not mistaken." |

QuantumTroll Street Fighter/Space Station 10/23/2009 11:11:12 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 181 | RE: Space Station FREYA Freya said, "Actually, I'm ready for Froderick right now. A basic shield is a very simple device, the crystal just needs power." With a smirk, she added, "Forming the shield is an optional headache for those of us with big enough powerplants." "And Jara, flickering the shield won't be a problem, as it's just a matter of toggling the current at the ion cannon's characteristic frequency and phase. Just remember that the shield will be only partially effective while you fire." Her own cobbled-together set of ion cannons were more of a problem. Each of them had its own frequency and she wouldn't be able to fire them through her shield at all. Missiles were more her style anyway. "Speaking of cash, Mr. Piet, you and Jara should head to the militia headquarters first. Let's talk to them and offer whatever pirate-hunting services they'll accept with advance payment. Otherwise I think we'll find it hard to afford much of anything. I've tapped into price-lists for small-lot manufacturing concerns in Grayson Territories, and I'm afraid that there is fierce competition and just the tiniest of margins. I can't compete with the asteroid-based factories on their own turf." |
Kapitein Piet (Ethical) Space Pirate 10/25/2009 12:56:17 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 60 | RE: Space Station FREYA "Aye, wise considerations, to be sure. Then it's decided," Kapitein Piet replied. Grayson Main was built into a massive asteroid, with a scattering of smaller rocks in orbit. As Freya entered its gravity well, she righted herself to the relative "up" of the freight docks. At the moment of landing, ten thousand new joints and welds creaked in unison, never having encountered the peculiarities of gravitational attraction and its associated stresses. Gravity was light, just under one-twentieth of a G, but present nonetheless. Once the airlock equalized the pressure between Freya's interior and the sealed docking space, her main hatch opened. Jara and Kapitein Piet were greeted by a view of a bustling dockyard, with hurried people and light trucks moving goods in a buzz of activity. They noticed that many of the people took a moment to take in the strange sight of the abnormal ship they were disembarking. But... business was business, and parcels weren't going to load themselves, so the gawkers quickly dissipated. "After you, Jara. Let's visit the local navy." |
Jara Green freelance fighter pilot 10/25/2009 10:32:03 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 60 | RE: Space Station FREYA (thanks Kapitein was having a hard time coming up with a transition) Jara had wanted to spend some time talking to Freya, but she supposed they could catch up later. Only momentarily disappointed she led Mr. Piet to the militia headquarters, got through the various security measures, and presented him to her superior. "Major Crolanthas Sir." She saluted the Kiefan and gestured toward Piet. "This is Mr. Piet, a representative from FREYA, they wish to discuss the possibility of hiring on as mercenaries." |
