Stasis Hey Claudius... You killed my father. Big mistake. Dominion Master 2/22/2010 1:31:20 AM Level: 25 Experience: 65000 Total Posts: 691 | RE: Lost in the Desert Nomad stepped a few feet away from them, listening to them with one ear and listening to the world with the other, appearing to stare off into space, but still very much alert. It would probably seem that Nomad didn't care about either of them at all; either he just wasn't very sociable or he had something else with which he was concerned. He pulled the cloth down briefly from his mouth to take a drink from his canteen and turned to follow them to the northeast, slipping his shotgun off his shoulder and holding it low, ready to go. "Keep your ears open," he warned. "This is a road. Could be unfriendlies." It didn't look anything like a road, being nothing but sand around them, but he was figuring with a vehicle battle having occurred nearby not long ago and a settlement being only a few hours' walk, this was a common path. |
Kyzer Inaka Desert Bandit 2/22/2010 11:56:29 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 25 | RE: Lost in the Desert Kyzer stopped walking for a moment to look towards the horizon. "Yeah, we left it underground when we were finished with it, it should still be there..." he looked in the oppostie direction and then began to walk again. "Nomad is right, this is a pretty common convoy route, which is a perfect spot for bandits and raiders to setup...hopefully we won't be a desirable target, keep your weapons visible and stay alert..." his hand returned to his pistol grip. His eye surveyed their surroundings and he hoped that with their weapons visible it would discourage any attack. |
Jehuty Intergalactic Nomad 2/22/2010 1:12:37 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 57 | RE: Lost in the Desert Jehuty slung his bullpup to the ready position. His mind was racing. This new acquaintance, Kyzer, had seen the insignia? Was it the same logo that was on his equipment, his only link to a lost past? If so, why mining equipment? Jehuty made a mental note to record his thoughts in his journal when he had a chance; maybe then he could deduce something tangible. The trek continued as the sun lowered toward the ever-changing horizon. |
Jehuty Intergalactic Nomad 2/23/2010 2:20:01 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 57 | RE: Lost in the Desert Time moved more quickly once the trio was on the move. The sun set and Jehuty lost track of the distance they'd covered, though he was sure Nomad could have given them some numbers to rival a machine's calculations. They were wary at first, so conversation was kept to a minimum, but the night was extraordinarily calm and no dangers revealed themselves. Several of Menos's moons were out and with the help of the unusually close planets of Kote and Lanus, lit the dunes quite beautifully. In what Jehuty could have called 10 minutes or 10 hours, but that logic claimed as about 3 hours, the town rose into view across a huge rock valley. The 3 men moved to the edge of the town, which was still bustling with nighttime activity. Residents came and went from house to house, not particularly wealthy-looking but certainly not beggars. Not far up the main street, a drunken Orc was being forcefully removed from the bar and music escaped through the door as the bouncers returned to their posts. At the end of the street, the small hangar that served as the landing platform was barely visible. The hand-built control tower was obviously shut down for the night as not a light on it shown except for the red clearance strobe on its steepled roof. |
Stasis Hey Claudius... You killed my father. Big mistake. Dominion Master 2/24/2010 1:57:19 AM Level: 25 Experience: 65000 Total Posts: 691 | RE: Lost in the Desert As they walked down the main street, Nomad gave pretty much everybody that even gave him a sidelong glance an evil glare. It worked to make them stop looking at him. He turned to Jehuty. "How long do you mean to stay on Menos?" was all he asked. It was more than he had said for the past two hours. He knew that Jehuty had a ship, and Nomad wanted to get far away. Off world was definitely far away. The problem was where the two, Jehuty and Kyzer, were going before leaving the world, if they allowed him to travel with them. He continued to scan the pedestrians as he listened for the answer. |
Kyzer Inaka Desert Bandit 2/24/2010 5:32:55 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 25 | RE: Lost in the Desert "I've been living here my entire life and I really don't have any intention on leaving" he spoke, his eyes almost as wary as Nomad's. A few people must have recognized Kyzer as he recieved a few glares and whispers as he walked by. Kyzer reached for his pistol grip and muttered towards Jehuty "let's hurry up and get to your ship, I don't want to run into a bounty hunter or something..." There was indeed a price on his head, a fairly good one too. A man began to stare at Kyzer and Kyzer snapped at him "Shove off!" he yelled at them. The man looked away and waited for them to walk past. |
Jehuty Intergalactic Nomad 2/25/2010 2:38:57 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 57 | RE: Lost in the Desert "I'm just looking for answers," Jehuty replied, keeping pace with the duo, "Beyond that my plans rarely stretch past a day. At this time of night it doesn't look like we'll be able to get to my ship; I suppose we should try to get some answers from the bar in the meantime. Kyzer says he's seen the "KLN" symbol so I think it's fair that in return for his help I take him back to his headquarters. "By the way, given the circumstances I feel I have a right to know what it is you do, Kyzer." Jehuty's gaze turned to his other companion, not menacing but firm and earnest. By Nomad and Kyzer's shifts in semblance, it was clear to Jehuty that neither of these men felt comfortable in such a populated area and that he now held the cards. Though he had no deceitful ambitions he fully intended to take advantage of the situation to make progress on his personal quest and learn what he could about his surroundings. |
Kyzer Inaka Desert Bandit 2/25/2010 10:28:38 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 25 | RE: Lost in the Desert (Oh oops sorry.) Kyzer sighed and looked around. "I'm a bandit, or raider...whichever you prefer, there is quite a good price on my head...hope that doesn't ruin our alliance" he looked towards the nearby bar and tightened the grip on his pistol. "Alright, let's go...hopefully they have a phone or something..." he kept an eye on the man that had begun to follow them and muttered "I think we have a tail..." |
Stasis Hey Claudius... You killed my father. Big mistake. Dominion Master 2/26/2010 5:18:11 PM Level: 25 Experience: 65000 Total Posts: 691 | RE: Lost in the Desert The faint hint of a smile crept across Nomad's mouth, still hidden behind his face cloth, at Kyzer's mention of being a bandit. Nomad had his suspicions, but verifying it seemed beneficial in a way. At the announcement of the individual tailing them, Nomad glanced with the corner of his eye, pretending to look to his left, then back toward the bar. Soon, they stepped into the bar and Nomad immediately stepped to the left of the door, leaning against the wall and waiting to see if the man ghosting them would follow them inside. |
Kyzer Inaka Desert Bandit 2/28/2010 2:05:28 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 25 | RE: Lost in the Desert Kyzer took note of Nomad's action and nonchalantly kept walking as Nomad stepped to the side. He released the grip of his pistol and walked towards the bar. HE figured Nomad could handle their tail by himself. "Do you have a phone or something?" The bartender set a glass down and looked at Kyzer closely. Kyzer hoped that the bartender didn't recognize him. "Yeah...but it'll cost eh...ten tape to use..." "Ten tape? for a bloody phone call, are you insane?" "Hey, I don't care if you use it or not but good luck trying to find another one in this town...plus I know you have money, Kyzer Inaka" "Fine fine, here..." Kyzer handed the money over and the bartender gave him a key to unluck the phone ad then pointed him in the direction of the phone. He walked towards the phone and noticed that their shadow had entered the bar. |
