Balinor Pill Popping Medic 3/23/2008 1:42:01 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 48 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras Tucker takes initiative and speaks next. Tucker: I could… I could look at your shell. I mean, I’m just a novice ship mechanic; I can’t do anything for your programming. Well, I could try, but I might just mess it up more. But I could… uh, fix your exterior. I’m very good at that kind of thing. I was going to go into detailing… Umm— Balinor notices that Tucker is not only anxious, he’s being considerably bashful. She touches his shoulder. He spins around and all his prior uncertainty returns. When he looks at her, he looks afraid. She frowns. She tries to be careful with her words. Balinor: That is excellent. Tucker: Really? He smiles and for a heartbeat his fear is washed away. Then he sees the tear stains on Balinor’s cheeks, and notices again how her hair doesn’t look quite right, and the trepidation returns. William must see it too. William: Tucker, perhaps you should go rest. It’s late. If Star thinks your proposal is good, you can start working on her tomorrow. Tucker accepts this with a grain of salt, and looks back to Star almost pleadingly. Tucker: What do you say? Behind his back, Balinor exchanges worried glances with William, who grips her elbow reassuringly. She can’t relax. |

"Yes, you are welcome to attempt to fix my exterior shell. I cannot say for certainity, but it may not be exactly what you may used to though. While it does seem to be an alloy, I have noticed unusual properties of how it reacts with heat and impact. Luckily, I have some basic information of such things. You're welcome to try at my programming as well if you wish to. By the time tomorrow comes and you've fixed my exterior shell, I will be able to log all of the information into a database and tell you which one it is so you don't alter it. If something does go wrong, my A.I. or what would be considered to be 'me' will restore all the data as it was before - errors and all. Since you don't need to tap into my A.I. it's improbable anything will go critically wrong." |
Szyren Phoenix in Training 3/23/2008 2:11:10 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 122 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras Tucker blinks a few times, and takes the answer Star gives him as a 'yes'. Tucker: Cool! He's only too eager to leave the room now. He salutes Star with two fingers and prances out and towards his room in the 3rd Tower. Once the sound of his footfall has stopped echoing through the halls, Balinor becomes serious again. Balinor: William said you are willing to assist me. He has aprised you of the situation here. Now I am adding that the quarantine will not be lifted until I discover how this colony was infected. I ask for your help in this matter. She realizes how very much akin to the seedy suited man on the holocomm she sounds right now and the thought makes her sick to her stomach. She rephrases her question so that it is, in fact, a question. Balinor: What I mean is-- I was informed that, until I figure out how this happened, we are all trapped here. Will you work with me to this end... please? William grits his teeth at her added please, finding it redundant to be polite to a robot. Although, he does understand why Balinor amended herself. Sometimes you get a better perspective of things when they're up-side-down. |
Lydyn S.T.A.R. 3/23/2008 2:42:46 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 116 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras Star watches Tucker salute her and slowly, but surely she seems to mimic the option for a moment - which looked very odd coming from her. She then watches Balinor as she begins to ask the question and listens to her ask the question a second time. "As you wish. Though it may be more efficient if you direct me where to go and what to do at this point, as you hold more information on not only the planet, but this colony as well as the disease. A few possiblities come to mind, but that ceases to answer the specific question of 'how'. So, what will you have me do then?" |
Balinor Pill Popping Medic 3/24/2008 1:47:02 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 48 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras Balinor mutely nods agreement, and thinks for only a few seconds. Balinor: For now, sleep. It’s past 0100 hours on this planet. I am tired. She starts to leave the bed and is sharply reminded of the IV’s still embedded in her skin. Without hesitating, she pulls them out expertly. Dr. Stern is sure to come in and check on her eventually, and since she won’t be there, he’ll take care of the clean up, so she doesn’t worry about it. William watches and winces with each extraction, though Balinor doesn’t seem at all bothered by it. He helps her off the bed and to her feet, and then offers to take her to her room. Balinor: No need. You can find a room for Star, though, please. William: Okay, I’ll go do that then. The ‘please’ still sounds foreign coming from her lips, but William doesn’t lament it this time as he leaves the hospital wing to steal yet another room key. Balinor addresses Star then. Balinor: You don’t have to sleep. You are free to do as you please tonight. If you wish to access the facility computers, the general password is x-5-t-y-s-o-n. This access level will only block you from administrative tools. You have no need of those yet. When she makes it all the way to the door without experiencing any kind of side effect from moving around too soon after an episode, she decides definitively that she will be able to make it to her room just fine. She wasn’t sure, when she dismissed William, but she has already shown so much weakness today, she is loath to show anymore. She still trusts William, wholeheartedly, but she needs to convince herself that she isn’t as weak as she feels right now. Balinor: You can find me again in the morning, at 0600 hours, outside room 221 in the 3rd Tower. Goodnight, Star. She, then, disappears out the door and down the hall, without waiting for Star’s reply. |
Lydyn S.T.A.R. 3/24/2008 4:53:22 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 116 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras Star hadn't really bothered trying to reply to Balinor at all this time, simply listening for a few moments after she had left the room. She then waits completely patient until William returned, eventually following him to whatever room he had 'stolen' the key for. Once inside, she sat down at the computer and began to access the general data about everything in the network, though if William had anything more to say she would pause and turn to him silently. |
Szyren Phoenix in Training 3/24/2008 2:39:04 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 122 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras William comes back and gives Star the key, and even goes so far as to show here to her room. But after that, he retires to his own quarters and lays in bed for the next 3.6 hours, thinking too hard and unable to sleep. Finally he manages to turn off his brain, and is overwhelmed by unconciousness. Balinor, makes it to her room, though by the time she arrives she is more than a little dizzy. Sleep isn't hard for her to obtain. Being unconcious, as she was, isn't the same as resting, and as stressed as she still is, she can see a tiny little light at the end of a very dark tunnel. So she embraces it, and drifts off imagining the flavor of ice cream. She wakes up at 5:30 without having set an alarm. She makes herself a quick breakfast and eats it alone. While she's eating, she takes out the holocomm and muddles through the contents of the file she never had a chance to look at last night. 23 minutes later, she's finished. She turns the holo off and sticks it in the front pocket of her pants, puts her dishes away, and steps into the hallway. It is exactly 6:00. Sometimes you get a better perspective of things when they're up-side-down. |
Lydyn S.T.A.R. 3/24/2008 2:58:41 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 116 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras Star had mostly been searching through common files on the network through the night and when she had got done with those, she had taken some time to recharge her cells, though no one would've thought so by looking at her. Eventually as it started to tick around 0530 in the morning, she headed outside the room, locked it and stored the key in some odd side compartment on her body and began to quietly walk through the halls. Star was just outside the doorway, maybe a couple feet away, when Balinor had stepped out. Instead of being exactly on time, Star had been just a bit early or so it seemed. She looked over and nodded some, as if in greeting the doctor. |
Balinor Pill Popping Medic 3/24/2008 10:19:05 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 48 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras Balinor looks to Star and nods. She expected the android to be waiting outside her room. It was proper military protocol to be anywhere at least 10 minutes early, and computers ran much to the same efficiency. Balinor: What of your networking systems? She wants to, if possible, upload parts of the file to Star, if Star does, in fact, have that capability. She isn’t sure how much like a computer Star actually is, though. But uploading the file would be much less time consuming than having Star read it all. Balinor: And then, last night, you mentioned you had some ideas. I am open to suggestions. Balinor begins walking down the hall and assumes Star will follow. She is headed to William’s room. As the facilities leading scientist, she figures he will also have a few ideas and if nothing else, serve as a de-stressing agent. Even though she feels much better than she did last night, she does not think it wise to be completely free of human contact and supervision. She doesn’t need a babysitter, or to be a babysitter to the android. She needs a friend. |
Lydyn S.T.A.R. 3/24/2008 11:07:22 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 116 | RE: Tenga Cuidado con Piedras Star stays pretty silent and begins following her calmly and seems to stay this way for a noticeable amount of time. She speaks just as Balinor might've asked her if she heard, or when most people would've, though there's no telling why she choose to stay silent. "I do have remote network systems, but they malfunctioning along with most of my systems. As for the ideas, assuming that this disease is really so non-existent in the civilized galaxy, it's fairly probable it was artificially introduced into the colony. This could either be by some undetected alien life form or by a human for various reasons. Any other possibilities that are probable is simply it coming here undetected by some other natural means, though less probable I'd figure. Though I do suggest trying to avoid too much stress, doctor." |
