Valerie Fas'nvak Ex-tournament fighter/ ninja accountant Dominion Master 11/4/2008 9:51:09 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 126 | RE: Fighting Skies Valerie inserted a fresh magazine and eased the slide back just enough to verify there was already a round chambered. She looked at Mattias. Valerie: You should probably get the plane fueled up. She took off toward the truck about the same time Hugo did, but from the opposite side. A panel swung open beside the gunner port, and a man flopped desperately half way out, holding some kind of tube in one hand. It shook and swayed as he tried to hold it with his outstretched arm. It was a grenade launcher. For a moment, she thought to stop dead in her tracks, but pushed the urge aside before it was put into action. She simply changed direction, sprinting at a sudden angle to the left. He fired just as she dived to the ground. The grenade missed completely, sailing perfectly through the shed's doorway and impacting the locked control tower door, sending it exploding backward into the stairwell, and the doorframe and its surrounding wall bowing out and splintering. Valerie swung her pistol up to return fire, but he slinked back into the cab. She jumped to her feet and continued toward the truck, hoping to catch him before he reloaded the launcher. |
QuantumTroll Street Fighter/Space Station 11/6/2008 4:51:48 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 181 | RE: Fighting Skies Hugo saw Valerie dodge the grenade and tried to muster up another Lightning Dash to close the distance. The hair on his arms rose and sparks arced from his feet, but he was too tired to do another one so soon after the last. Instead, he raised his pistol and started firing at the truck as he ran. He didn't care if he hit anything, but the sound of gunfire whizzing by their heads should make the thugs think twice before stepping back out. Valerie was out of sight, but he could hear gunshots from her side of the truck. With one final burst of speed he made it to the armored vehicle. A side-door opened and a rifle barrel stuck out at him. Without losing a beat, Hugo dodged to the side and grabbed the barrel. Stupid move, it was scalding hot, but he held on and pulled with his whole weight. A man was dragged out with it, with a shocked expression on his face. Hugo pivoted on his left foot, pulled his right leg back, and aimed a knee-kick at the poor man's head. The force of the blow threw the man back into the cabin of the truck. |
Valerie Fas'nvak Ex-tournament fighter/ ninja accountant Dominion Master 11/7/2008 11:32:35 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 126 | RE: Fighting Skies As she reached for the gunner port, the forward door swung open forcefully, causing her to reflexively step to the side, out of the way. The driver, in some kind of leather armor—more intimidating than functional—swung out with a combat knife in hand. With a two-handed grip, she thrust her pistol straight out to fire, but it was no good at this close a distance. Without getting a shot off, he grabbed it around the front, pushed it aside, and swung the knife low, under her arms. With her left arm, she twisted, grabbed the forearm of his knife-bearing arm, slowing it, and stepped back to angle her body away from the blade. She let go of the gun, leaving it uselessly in his grip, distracting him for a split second. She swung his arm across his body, pointing the knife away from herself, and produced her knife from her pocket, unfolding it with two well-practiced flicks, and making two overwhelmingly fast cuts to his forearm. She released her grip on his arm and pulled her empty hand in close to her body. He tugged the arm away, taking a step back and angling the right side of his body away from her, and bringing the knife around for another attempted strike. With her armed hand, she blocked the swing from the inside, pushing it low, and brought her blade across the crook of his elbow in a retracting cut. Without pausing, she guided the knife up and across his bicep, then his shoulder. With his arm essentially disabled, and her hand near his neck, she grabbed the collar of the leather vest, brought her left foot to his ankle and placed her thigh against his knee for leverage, twisted her body and pulled with her arm, hurling him to her left and sending him twirling quickly to the ground. The entire fight had taken about eight seconds. The one man still inside the truck had just finished reloading his AK and was trying to determine which of these insane people he was going to try to take on first. The man kneed by Hugo landed in his lap and he reflexively pointed the rifle that way. |
QuantumTroll Street Fighter/Space Station 11/8/2008 12:04:46 PM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 181 | RE: Fighting Skies Hugo stood by the door of the truck and dropped the rifle he just took to the ground. Pointing his handgun at the confused jumble of limbs inside, he saw the man at the other end pointing a mean-looking rifle past the bleeding face of his friend. With a curse, Hugo squeezed off a shot with his pistol and dove to the side, narrowly avoiding a burst of gunfire. His shot spanged off the ceiling of the cab, tumbling through the other door with a buzz. With the way he had been shooting at the truck there couldn't be many shots left in the thing. Hugo hit the dirt heavily and clumsily rolled into a crouch. Hugo thought Valerie probably used the opportunity to stab him, and good riddance, but he thought this last guy might come in handy if left intact. Staying out of sight towards the back of the vehicle, he shouted, "It's over! You're alone! Throw your gun out and come out with your hands visible! We want some information." |

In great pain, he was trying to turn Valerie's SIG around in his hand. She kicked it as he clumsily manipulated it, knocking it easily out of his hand and across the ground, out of his reach. She crouched quickly and angrily, slamming a knee into his chest, and brought her knife to his throat. Valerie: Look, do you want to DIE? I wasn't going to kill you, but it's not gonna be hard. So STAY DOWN! He gave her an angry look, masking his fear and pain, but didn't try anything further. She snatched his knife from near his disabled hand and set it aside. Looked like a KA-BAR; she'd probably keep it. Valerie: Good. She stood, switched her knife into her left hand, and picked up her pistol. |
QuantumTroll Street Fighter/Space Station 11/12/2008 8:07:03 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 181 | RE: Fighting Skies The driver looked with derision at the knocked-out colleague in his lap and the comrade lying disabled and bleeding in the dust outside. What a bunch of screw-ups, to let themselves be taken out by the marks they were supposed to whack. And the idiot gunner hadn't hit squat with that new toy of his. But now his two enemies were within spitting distance, and he was still safe behind the armor of the truck. He could still fix this and get all that tape to himself. Quickly he pulled two large handgrenades out of the box to his right, yelling back "Okay! You win! I'm coming out!" Hugo relaxed at hearing these words. Finally it seemed like he'd be able to find out just who these bandits were and what his options were. A talking hostage might come in handy if more trouble showed up, too. With a practiced motion, the driver flicked the pins out of the grenades, waited two seconds, and gently tossed them out. As soon as they were out the door, he ducked down as low as he could. That oughta take care of them, he thought. A wordless cry escaped Hugo's lips as he recognized the shape that landed in the dust at his feet. An instinctual surge of electrical energy coursed through his bones as he kicked the grenade. It went flying in a low arc, detonating about a second later, 50 meters away. Hugo hit the dirt and covered his head with his arms as pieces of white-hot shrapnel whizzed by and bounced off the truck. Hugo rolled into a crouch, wary of the stubborn man still in the truck. He himself was uninjured, but then he realized it had sounded like two explosions. He called out, "Valerie, are you okay?" |
Valerie Fas'nvak Ex-tournament fighter/ ninja accountant Dominion Master 11/14/2008 1:16:34 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 126 | RE: Fighting Skies The first thing that crossed Valerie's mind was put something on that. So with an adrenaline-fueled heave, she tossed the guy lying on the ground onto the grenade, then vaulted over the front of the truck. The man scrambled, but there was no way to move in time. Valerie was only half-way through her leap when the grenade blew; that guy was undoubtedly hosed, and a sharp pain rose in her left upper thigh. She hit the ground in front of the truck with a yelp. A couple seconds later, the ringing in her ears subsided and she heard Hugo call out. She crawled around toward his side of the truck and looked at him. Valerie: I don't know! She twisted around, trying to see her wound. Valerie: Something hit me in the butt! There was no exit wound. She twisted a little further and saw the hole in her pants, slowly turning red. Slowly being the key word. She let this reassure her that it wasn't too serious. It probably went through the guy, or bounced off something, or both before it hit her. But she was angry. Valerie: Kill that... piece of... I don't know! She grabbed one of the spikes on the front of the truck to try to lift herself, but she was unable to stand on her left leg. Valerie: Just stick your gun in there and shoot him, dang it! She pulled herself up her right leg, leaning against the truck to keep weight off her left. She pointed her pistol toward the open slits in the windshield's armor, but couldn't see anything. |
QuantumTroll Street Fighter/Space Station 11/14/2008 5:38:55 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 181 | RE: Fighting Skies Still dazed from the shock of the explosions, Hugo looked around for his gun. Valerie's anger was infectious. This guy was going down, if only he could focus and his eyes stopped watering. The handgun was right next to him and he picked it up. Checking the magazine, he had three shots left. It would have to be enough. Why was he moving so slowly? No time for fancy plans or doing things the safe way. At any moment the driver could throw another grenade or start firing his rifle. Hugo got up and pushed off towards the cab door, gun in two hands following the proper form. He ignored the dull ache in his left hand from where the rifle had burned him, all that existed was the square inch of world at the end of the iron sights of the pistol. Suddenly that inch was filled up with the pink flesh of a human. Before even caring who that flesh represented, Hugo squeezed off all his rounds. The bandit's head produced a mist of blood, bone, and gray matter as it turned into an unrecognizeable mess. He had been crouching with his rifle pointed at the door, but the nearby detonation of the grenades slowed his reaction time at least as much as Hugo's. Now his lifeless body slumped back and slid to the floor. With some effort, Hugo called out, "Got 'im! That's the end of it." The gun was out of ammo, so Hugo tossed it in the truck and walked around to Valerie's side to check on her. In the back of his mind he wondered where Mattias had gotten off to, he hadn't been seen since the war-truck came on the scene. When Hugo rounded the truck, he was met with a pretty gruesome sight. The grenade had torn the man into bloody chunks and spread a spray of blood and fleshy bits over the entire area. Valerie was leaning on the truck a little way beyond, pressing the back of her upper thigh with her hand. Hugo skirted the messy area and walked up to her. He asked, "Hey, are you injured? I've got a decent first-aid kit in the Albatross." He offered his good hand to help her go to the plane. |

Of course, the pain wasn't. She looked up at Hugo as he asked her if she was injured. Valerie: Yeah, I'm hurt. Got grenaded in the butt. She took his hand and pulled herself up on her good leg, slinging her arm over his shoulder to hold herself up. The pain was terrible as it was, and standing on it only made it worse. Mattias showed himself, crawling out from behind the 'thopter. He gave a little wave. Mattias: Hi guys. Over here. He stood up, his gaze turned toward the ground, and his eyes widened. Mattias: Oh frag. That's why it's taking so long. Valerie didn't, but anybody that cared to look could see that the fuel hose had been practically torn in half, probably an effect of the grenade. Mattias: Fuel hose is busted. We're almost topped off anyway. Come on. |
QuantumTroll Street Fighter/Space Station 11/15/2008 4:58:03 AM Level: 1 Experience: 0 Total Posts: 181 | RE: Fighting Skies Fortunately Valerie was pretty light and propping her up was easy. At first Hugo tried keeping up some light chatter to distract her from the pain, but he couldn't really manage and gave up. He was happy to see Mattias made it okay and had somehow managed to tank up the 'thopter in the meantime. All they needed to do was to do a quick tune on the other wing. First things first, though. As soon as he got Valerie to the flyer, Hugo lifted off the seat of the pilot's chair and got out a rather large medkit. He said, "I gotta get us out of here, but you can take any of the painkillers you find in here. Uh, I recommend the hydrocodaphine derm patch. When we're safe we can treat the wound properly." With that, he gave a curt nod and turned to his tools. Even though it was risky, Hugo decided to abbreviate the quick-tune regimen and was done in under a minute. Tossing his stuff in the toolkit, he said to Mattias, "Cross your fingers that we don't fall out of the sky, but I really don't want to stay around any longer." He turned to Valerie and asked, "Hey, how is that patch working out? Are you ready to load up and buzz on out of here?" |
